HOCKEY GAINING POPULARITY AS A FAMILY’S SPORT
Although I don’t read the paper nearly as much as I used to, an article in yesterday’s Arizona Republic caught my eye. It was a sport’s article that was on the front page of the newspaper, something that doesn’t happen very often.
At first it appeared to be an article about hockey gaining popularity in the desert. This is a topic that has always annoyed me, since hockey has been played in the Phoenix area for half a century.
But as I continued to read the article, I realized that the true storyline had more to do with things that I have been saying for a long time, such as it being a sport of gentlemen, classy and tough athletes.
It’s not often that I give kudos to a newspaper article, but I must send them out to John D’Anna of the Arizona Republic for doing such a fine job with this story.
Enjoy!
